SAN FRANCISCO – Cameron Carr scored 26 points, Anton Watson scored the game-winning basket, and the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat, 93-91, after sudden death overtime Sunday in the 2026 California Classic Summer League at Chase Center.

Miami held a double-digit lead for most of the game but lost in the first possession of sudden death following 40 minutes of regulation and two more of extra time.

Carr, a first-round pick out of Baylor, led the way for the Lakers with 26 points and eight rebounds, while Watson had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Heat got off to a fast start, grabbing a 26-17 lead following the first quarter, and were in complete control throughout most of the game. The Lakers were down by double digits for most of the second and third quarters, and with 10 minutes left, Miami held a commanding 74-64 advantage.

The Lakers stormed back in the final frame, outscoring the Heat 23-13 and using a layup from Chris Mañon to even the game in the final minute. Los Angeles fought back in overtime, as well, ultimately evening things up with 28 seconds left when Adou Thiero converted a layup.

In the sudden-death period, the Lakers controlled the first possession, and after Carr missed a 13-foot jumper, Watson grabbed the offensive board and gave the Lakers the victory.

Thiero filled the stat sheet, posting 13 points, three rebounds, two assists and three steals. Mañon added 12 points, three rebounds and three assists coming off the bench.
