Hal Greer leads the 76ersā all-time scoring list. The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the NBAās most storied franchises, capturing three NBA championships across three different decades and ranking third all-time in regular-season wins behind only the Celtics and Lakers. Along the way, some of basketballās greatest players have called Philadelphia home. But when it comes to points scored in a Sixers uniform, no one tops Hall of Famer Hal Greer. Hereās a look at the five leading scorers in franchise history:
1. Hal Greer ā 21,586 Points
In 1955, Hal Greer broke the color barrier as the first African-American athlete to play for the traditionally white Marshall University in West Virginia. Three years later, he was drafted by the Syracuse Nationals. When the franchise relocated and became the Philadelphia 76ers in 1963, Greer remained a cornerstone of the team, averaging 19.2 points per game over his 15-year career and earning seven consecutive All-NBA Second Team selections during his peak in the 1960s. Greer helped lead the 76ers to the 1967 NBA championship alongside Wilt Chamberlain, ending the Boston Celticsā record streak of eight consecutive titles. He retired in 1973 as the NBAās all-time leader in games played (1,122) and was later named to both the NBA 50 Greatest Players list and the NBA 75th Anniversary Team. In 1976, Greer became the first player in franchise history to have his jersey (No. 15) retired. He remains the 76ersā all-time leading scorer.
2. Allen Iverson ā 19,931 Points
If you know the 76ers, you know Allen Iverson. Selected No. 1 overall in the iconic 1996 NBA Draft, Iverson won Rookie of the Year after averaging 23.5 points per gameāthe 17th-highest scoring average by a rookie in NBA history. He went on to win four scoring titles, tied with George Gervin and Kevin Durant for the third most all-time, despite standing just 6-foot tall. Iversonās signature season came in 2000-01, when he became the shortest player to win NBA MVP, led the league in scoring and carried the Sixers to the NBA Finals. His unforgettable 48-point performance against Shaquille OāNeal, Kobe Bryant, and the Lakers stole Game 1 in Los Angeles. An 11-time All-Star and seven-time All-NBA selection, Iverson ranks second on the 76ersā all-time scoring list.
3. Dolph Schayes ā 18,438 Points
Drafted in 1949 to the Syracuse Nationals, Dolph Schayes is the NBAās original bucket getter. The 12-time All-Star and 1955 NBA champion spent his entire 16-year career (1949-64) with the Syracuse Nationals and Philadelphia 76ers, making 12 All-NBA teams along the way. Schayes was the top scorer in 13 of the clubās 17 years of existence before they became the Philadelphia 76ers in 1963. Schayes was ahead of his time as one of the first true stretch bigs. Despite standing at 6-foot-8 and playing power forward and center, he led the league in FT% three separate times, including a career-best 90.4% from the line on 9.7 attempts in 1957-58. He was the first player ever to reach 15,000 points and retired in 1964 holding the NBA records for most career points (18,438), field goals (6,135), and free throws made (6,979).
4. Julius Erving ā 18,364 Points
Julius āDr. Jā Erving was one of basketballās first true superstars. After establishing himself as an ABA legend, he joined the 76ers following the 1976 NBA-ABA merger, when Philadelphia acquired his rights from the New York Nets. Erving became one of the greatest players in franchise history, earning All-Star honors in all 11 of his seasons with the Sixers, winning the 1981 NBA MVP while averaging 22.0 points on 50.7% shooting. He helped the franchise win the 1983 NBA championship with a sweep of Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and the Lakers. An aerial artist whose above-the-rim style captivated fans, Erving helped redefine the game and inspired generations of players, including Michael Jordan.
5. Charles Barkley ā 14,184 Points
These days, Charles Barkley is best known for his humor on Inside the NBA. But before becoming a television icon, the āRound Mound of Reboundā was one of the leagueās most dominant scorers. Drafted by the 76ers in 1984, Barkley spent eight seasons in Philadelphia, averaging 22.1 points per game across 610 appearances. Barkley paired elite volume and overwhelming strength with remarkable efficiency. In 1987-88, he averaged 28.3 points per game while leading the NBA with a 66.5% true shooting percentageāa mark that still stands among the most efficient high-volume scoring seasons in league history. For context, Steph Curry averaged 30.1 points on 66.9% true shooting in what is widely considered the most efficient offensive season in NBA history. Barkley led the league in true shooting percentage four straight times, field goal percentage five times, and effective field goal percentage twice during his Sixers tenure.
