'We can't lose another defender' - Liam Rosenior fears 'serious' Trevoh Chalobah injury blow

Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior is facing a defensive crisis following a "tough night" at Stamford Bridge that saw his side dumped out of the Champions League by Paris Saint-Germain. The Blues boss admitted he is praying for positive news after Trevoh Chalobah was stretchered off during the 3-0 second-leg defeat.

Injury concerns for Chalobah
The night went from bad to worse for Chelsea as Chalobah was stretchered off late in the game after the hosts had already utilized all five substitutes. His departure forced the Blues to finish the match with 10 men.

Speaking after the whistle, Rosenior revealed the early diagnosis: "Trevoh, I just asked the medical team. He's got a high ankle sprain, so I'm praying it's nothing too serious because we can't lose another defender."

The loss is particularly damaging with Chelsea already missing right-backs Reece James and Malo Gusto.

A historical collapse at the Bridge
The 3-0 loss cemented an 8-2 aggregate defeat, the club's heaviest in Champions League knockout history. PSG were clinical, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola and Senny Mayulu all scoring.

Rosenior lamented: "A tough night... We had the ball in their box and Barcola hit one from 25 yards into the top corner. Their belief grows. You can't make mistakes at this level."

Selection gambles backfire
Facing an injury crisis, Rosenior fielded Mamadou Sarr at right-back—a decision that backfired as individual errors allowed PSG control. Sarr was substituted at halftime.

"Mamadou is a very good player, but we missed our starting right-backs. There are times you have to trust players, but [the early goal] took the wind out of our sails," Rosenior noted.

Focus shifts to domestic survival
With European football over, Chelsea must now pivot to the Premier League, visiting Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday. Chalobah's potential absence leaves the defense dangerously thin as they fight to salvage their season.
